Accessibility Statement

Our Commitment to Accessibility

RiverSpring Living is committed to ensuring that our website, riverspringliving.org, is accessible to all visitors, including people with disabilities. We believe every person, regardless of ability, deserves equal access to information about the care and services we provide.

Our goal is to meet or exceed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA standards, as recommended by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

What We’ve Done

In early 2026, we completed a major accessibility remediation initiative across our website. This effort addressed hundreds of accessibility issues and included improvements in the following areas:

  • Keyboard navigation: All pages can be navigated using a keyboard alone. A skip-to-content link allows users to bypass repeated navigation. Dropdown menus support standard keyboard controls, including the Escape key.
  • Screen reader support: Images include descriptive alternative text. Forms are properly labeled. Page structure uses semantic headings, landmarks, and ARIA attributes to improve compatibility with assistive technologies.
  • Color and contrast: Text and interactive elements are designed to meet WCAG AA contrast ratio requirements. We do not rely on color alone to communicate information.
  • Focus indicators: Interactive elements display visible focus states when navigated by keyboard, with sufficient contrast against surrounding backgrounds.
  • Responsive design: Content reflows correctly at 200% browser zoom without requiring horizontal scrolling. The site is designed to function across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
  • Third-party content: We have worked to improve the accessibility of third-party components used on our site, including search tools, cookie notices, translation tools, and contact forms.
  • PDF documents: Links to PDF documents are identified as such so users understand the file type before opening. We are actively working to remediate existing PDF documents for accessibility, prioritizing legal and service-related materials.

Ongoing Efforts

Accessibility is an ongoing process. We continue to:

  • Monitor our site using automated testing tools and manual reviews
  • Test with assistive technologies, including screen readers and keyboard-only navigation
  • Review new content and features for accessibility before publishing
  • Train our team on accessibility best practices
  • Remediate PDF documents to meet accessibility standards, beginning with current legal and service materials

Compatibility

This website is intended to be compatible with current versions of major browsers and assistive technologies, including screen readers and keyboard-only navigation.

Known Limitations

While we strive for full accessibility, some limitations may exist:

  • Third-party content: Some embedded content provided by external services, such as video players or social media feeds, may not fully meet accessibility standards. We continue to work with vendors to improve these experiences where possible.
  • Older PDF documents: Some PDF files published before our accessibility remediation efforts may not yet be fully accessible. Historical community reports published prior to 2023 are maintained in their original format as archived content. If you need information from any PDF in an alternative format, please contact us.
