The Volunteer Services Department is excited to invite volunteers back to our campus.

Are you interested in learning about healthcare? Are you a student interested in a specific field and looking for your direction? Are you retired and looking to utilize your skills to help others? Whatever your reason, we would be happy to talk with you to find the right volunteer opportunity.

Volunteer opportunities

We encourage anyone who is interested in making a difference, exploring a career path, or looking for real-life experience in a specific field to call our Volunteer Services Department to find out more about our diverse range of opportunities.

Here are a few examples of how you can help:

  • Assisting with our rehabilitation services department
  • Leading our residents through our famous Derfner Judaica Art Collection + Museum
  • Religious services support and pastoral visits
  • Accounting assistance
  • IT support
  • Library services
  • Marketing and communications support
  • Assisting with nursing staff on our nursing home floor
  • Engaging our residents in conversation by leading discussion groups
  • Providing entertainment to our residents
  • Keeping our residents active with recreational activities like music, art, and aerobics
  • Helping in one of our many departments providing clerical support such as answering telephones, inputting data, filing, typing, and taking messages

Still not sure how you can help? Spending the day with a resident is a welcomed volunteer activity. A simple visit can make all the difference in the day of an older adult. This requires no special skill or ability—just a readiness to listen and learn.

If you are interested in bringing joy to the lives of older people in your community, our Volunteer Services department is happy to meet with you to discuss opportunities based on your interests, skills, availability, and our needs. We look forward to meeting you!

Pets-By-Your-Side Program

Our community cherishes visits from our furry friends. In fact, experiences with pets have proven to be therapeutic and enjoyable for residents, staff, and the pets themselves. The Pets-By-Your-Side program brightens our residents’ days by creating positive, calming experiences with animals. If your family member is a current resident and would like your pet to visit OR if you have a Certified Pet Therapy Dog a, and you would like to join our Pets-By-Your-Side Program, please call the Volunteer Services Office at (718) 581-1404.
