Stanley and Charlotte Bernstein

The story of Charlotte and Stanley Bernstein is the classic American success story. They raised their family in Elkins Park, PA where Stanley owned a moving & storage business with three of his brothers. A member of the greatest generation, he served in the 115^th Regiment, 29^th Infantry Division, landing on Omaha Beach on D-Day. He was a sergeant in the Army and received the Soldier’s Medal for heroism, the Distinguished Unit Badge.

Upon returning from the war, Stanley continued working with his brothers, until 1974 when he went out on his own and founded two new logistics businesses, one in entertainment and one in project logistics, the fruits of which continue to operate today. Their youngest son David, grew the entertainment logistics business into a powerhouse, and led it to become the premier freight forwarder in live entertainment around the world.

Despite their humble beginnings, Charlotte and Stanley became leaders in the community, and gave generously to their synagogue, the United Negro College Fund, the Franklin Institute, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Carnegie Museum of Art, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, and the Philadelphia Orchestra, as well as multiple schools and universities. In addition to raising her five children, Charlotte tutored Jewish children in the community and volunteered at local museums as a docent.

It is a privilege to honor the legacy of Stanley and Charlotte as their time with us at the Hebrew Home was consequential and vibrant. We are grateful to the entire Bernstein Family for the trust in us as we cared for their beloved parents in the completion of their life journey.
