The tragedy last Saturday in Pittsburgh was horrific and heartbreaking. And while
many of us feel helpless in how, when and where to fight hatred and anti-Semitism,
there is something we can all do this Saturday – #Show Up For Shabbat.
The American Jewish Committee has launched a global effort to send a message that
we stand in solidarity this Shabbat with the people of Pittsburgh, and against those
with hate in their hearts.
Whether you are Jewish, or an ally, I encourage you to participate in Show Up For
Shabbat this Saturday and attend a Shabbat service in memory of the eleven souls
we lost last week. Shabbat services are an opportunity to reflect and remember
among community — a time of peace and prayer.
To #ShowUp, attend a local Friday night or Saturday morning service at a local
synagogue. Here is a link to the AJC website for details.
Here at the Hebrew Home, we will be offering a special prayer at our Shabbat
service.
Let’s come together with a message of love this weekend. Join me in standing united
with the Pittsburgh Jewish community. Saturday and every day.
